KENNEDALE, Texas. -- The 2009 Texas Raceway Outlaw Pro-Mod Series 1/8th mile racing season has brought together race teams and fans for some of the finest Outlaw Racing in the Mid-West throughout the year. All of the teams are competing for the same thing, a chance to win an additional $10,000 Championship Bonus. The teams have been gathering points all season long to earn their spot in the Final Top Eight for the finale to be held on Friday, November 6th 2009 at Texas Raceway, Kennedale, Texas. This race is running as a race within a race that will be concluded on November 7th, 2009 during the final Texas Outlaw Pro-Mod Association race of the 2009 Season. The first two rounds of the shoot-out eliminations also count towards two qualifying attempts for Saturday's open TOPMA race. All competitor's not competing as the Top 8 finalists will qualify after each round of the shoot-out eliminations. The final round of the shoot-out will not count towards qualifying but will determine which team wins the $10,000 bonus for being the Texas Raceway track champion. Round 1 finalists in the shoot-out receive $2,000 each. The two semi-finalists will receive $3,000 each while the shoot-out runner-up will receive $5,000 and the grand track champion walks away with the $10,000 prize. Competitor's that finish in 9th and 10th each recieve $500 for their year long efforts. Pairings for the shoot-out will be based up the standard NHRA Ladder Sheet with No. 1 vs No 8, No 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5 for competition. The qualifiers for the Texas Raceway Outlaw Pro-Mod Shootout Championship in order, include: Ken "Bad Bird" Thomas, Gaylen "The Texas Bounty Hunter" Smith, Frankie "Mad Man" Taylor, Gene Hector's Small Block Mafia, Steve Wiley's Red Reaper, Jackie Deavers' Underdawg's Revenge, Heath Harveys' Twisted Texan and David Baldwin. Respectively, knocking on the door in 9th and 10th place are Michelle Wilson and Chuck Poindexter. On Saturday, November 7th, there will be 2 more rounds of qualifying for all the teams for the open race with eliminations immediately following qualifying. The final race of the year for the Outlaw Pro-Mods will conclude after the completion of 4 qualifying passes from the two day scheduled event.
