In a year where the drag racing world has seen many setbacks, many had a negative outlook on the season, but tough times can also bring out the spirit of perseverance, and a few teams have proven just that. Bruce Litton, although he has also felt the struggles of the time, persevered for a great year with the Lucas Oil Top Fuel Team, with 3 wins and finishing 2nd in overall points standings. "It was a really good year," said Litton. "We had 4 number one qualifiers, 8 Last Man Standing titles; we were in 6 finals and won 3 races. Overall this year, we had a winning percentage of 69.22% in competition rounds [both sanctioning bodies]. We were also fortunate enough to run the World Series of Drag Racing; we won that and set low E.T. and top speed at the event. I'm proud of this Lucas Oil Top Fuel Team and the accomplishments we've had this year. It's been a year of trials and tribulations for everybody in all walks of life, but we've been blessed this year and I feel very fortunate that we had a good season. One of the coolest things I was able to do this year was to take a spin in the World's Fastest Street Car. I'm always out to prove that Lucas Oil is the best oil out there and now I can personally say that not only is it the best in high performance race engines, but also in heavy duty street car use. "The Canadian tour was very good to us this year. We were 5 and 1 in competition rounds for those two races. We have a huge following for Lucas in Canada. Lucas Oil has countless fans and customers there, and I feel honored to be a spokesperson for Lucas Oil while I'm in Canada. "I truly can't say enough about Lucas Oil. They've been behind us for 13 years. I can't imagine racing without them. Much of my success is because of the support of Lucas. It's been a blessing to me to work with them, and I hope they enjoy our partnership as much as I do." This year was special to Litton because he ran a year-long tribute on the Lucas Oil dragster to a little girl who lost a battle with cancer. Litton wanted to honor young Karsyn Bell and raise support for the hospital where she received much of her treatment. "This year was a tribute for Karysn Bell and Riley Children's Hospital. It's amazing to see the blessings from people who came out and supported the cause. Supporting Riley Children's Hospital is also something that's close to the heart of the folks at Lucas Oil and it meant a lot to me that we could do this together." With the completion of 2009 Litton finished his 13th year behind the wheel of the Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster. He earned the Top Fuel World Championship in 2007, has finished 2nd 5 times since 2002, and also has 4 3rd place finishes to his credit. . In the history of IHRA Top Fuel, Litton and team are 5th in all time wins with a total of 16. . Litton has gone to 49 total final rounds in his Top Fuel career, with only one other driver going to more than that. . Litton's 49 finals also place him 4th for highest number of final rounds in all pro categories. All of this was accomplished with Lucas Oil in and on the car. With the 2009 season in the books, the Lucas Oil Top Fuel team is looking to add to those accomplishments in 2010.
