OWENSBORO, Ky. --
As an NHRA member track, Windy Hollow will be offering racing for kids 8 to 17 years of age in half-scale Jr. Dragsters, fun racing for street-legal type cars and trucks and classes for special built drag cars with the top categories covering the eighth-mile distance in under 5-seconds and reaching top speeds of near 150 mph. Racers will have the opportunity to qualify at Windy Hollow for the NHRA Summit Racing Series North Central Division Finals which will be held at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, Sept. 14-16. Winners from the Indy event advance to the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championships held at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, Calif., Nov. 8-11.
The track has a number of special events planned during the season including the NHRA Jr. Dragster Challenge, April 28; National DRAGSTER Challenge, May 12; NHRA King of the Track presented by Summit Racing Equipment, June 23 and other fun events. "We are excited for weekly racing to resume at Windy Hollow and plan a number of events that racers and fans alike will enjoy," said new operator Johnathan Jones. "We're working hard to get the track ready for our initial test and tune days and our official opening event, April 7th." Windy Hollow Dragway is located 6 miles southwest of U.S. 60 by-pass just west of SR 81 on Windy Hollow Road.
