Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Session #2

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Third annual NHRA Four-Wide Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Mike Burns Runs 6.391/159.87, Now #13; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 27 percent, barometer 29.51 inches, adjusted altitude 1,452 feet, track temperature 113 degrees.

Burns didn't run in the first session. He started to lose traction and clicked it off.


Left Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.459/231.95, Now #9; Best prior run: 10.727/72.67, Was #17

Fricke was off the throttle early...

Left Lane: Chase Copeland Runs 5.360/274.05, Now #6; Best prior run: 8.894/92.45, Was #17
Right Lane: Aaron Tatum Runs 13.720/72.46, Now #18; Best prior run: 15.748/57.72, Was #18

Tatum was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Copeland was straight down the groove to get into the to half of the show. Chase Copeland's incremental times: 60ft-0.957 sec., 330ft-2.462, 660ft-3.598/221.52 mph, 1,000ft-4.548.

Left Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 5.485/248.61, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.585/248.34, Was #13
Right Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 5.572/258.07, Now #14; Best prior run: 8.435/102.84, Was #17

Mercier makes a move in the right direction and gets in the show. Dan Mercier's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.534, 660ft-3.709/212.96 mph, 1,000ft-4.710. Stalba moves up the ladder a couple spots. Karen Stalba's incremental times: 60ft-0.934 sec., 330ft-2.444, 660ft-3.605/215.44 mph, 1,000ft-4.600.

Left Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.389/270.10, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.492/258.57, Was #12

Shields moves into the top half of the field...Duane Shields' incremental times: 60ft-0.934 sec., 330ft-2.461, 660ft-3.610/219.90 mph, 1,000ft-4.567.

Left Lane: Richard Bourke Runs 5.765/205.57, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.413/252.00, Was #9
Right Lane: John Finke Runs 5.478/251.63, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.648/250.88, Was #15

Bourke started to lose traction and clicked it off. Finke made amove in the right direction...John Finke's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.473, 660ft-3.619/217.81 mph, 1,000ft-4.604.

Left Lane: Doug Foley Runs 5.396/264.80, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.350/269.40, Was #5
Right Lane: Sidnei Frigo Runs 5.461/229.43, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.496/211.33, Was #14

foley doesn't improve, but still another nice pass. Doug Foley's incremental times: 60ft-0.966 sec., 330ft-2.475, 660ft-3.603/223.17 mph, 1,000ft-4.560. Frigo with a nice pass and moves up the ladder two spots. Sidnei Frigo's incremental times: 60ft-0.924 sec., 330ft-2.441, 660ft-3.584/219.47 mph, 1,000ft-4.552.

Left Lane: Dan Page Runs 5.435/261.88, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.323/265.38, Was #4
Right Lane: Matthew Cummings Runs 5.410/261.32, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.418/262.54, Was #10

Cummings with his career quickest pass and moves up the ladder one spot. Matthew Cummings' incremental times: 60ft-0.928 sec., 330ft-2.381, 660ft-3.544/211.36 mph, 1,000ft-4.551. Page with a nice pass, but doesn't improve. Dan Page's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.465, 660ft-3.604/217.60 mph, 1,000ft-4.585.

Left Lane: Mark Taliaferro Runs 5.306/276.75, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.284/275.90, Was #3
Right Lane: Ken Perry Runs 5.291/270.05, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.371/268.44, Was #7

Taliaferro with another good pass, but doesn't improve. Mark Taliaferro's incremental times: 60ft-0.938 sec., 330ft-2.430, 660ft-3.553/223.84 mph, 1,000ft-4.498. Perry launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number four spot. Ken Perry's incremental times: 60ft-0.905 sec., 330ft-2.348, 660ft-3.485/217.49 mph, 1,000ft-4.460.

Left Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.202/267.75, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.226/270.59, Was #1
Right Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 21.628/30.61, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.278/272.56, Was #2

McPhillips is up in smoke as soon as he hits the throttle. Reichert launched hard and keep in hooked up to improve on his number one position. This is his quickest pass of the season. Bill Reichert's incremental times: 60ft-0.903 sec., 330ft-2.341, 660ft-3.438/227.31 mph, 1,000ft-4.378.
