Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #1

COMMERCE, Ga. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 32nd annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.401/146.77, Now #2
Right Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.143/187.60, Now #1

3:41 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 61 percent, barometer 29.30 inches, adjusted altitude 2,998 feet, track temperature 116 degrees.

Wells drifts toward the wall all the way through the run and finally backs off the throttle. Harris makes a clean pass.


Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.290/182.65, Now #2
Right Lane: James Surber No Time, Now #4

Surber had problems and was pushed off the starting line. DeSantis drifted a little to the right but stayed on the throttle.

Left Lane: Joey Gladstone Runs 7.428/180.81, Now #4
Right Lane: Chip Ellis No Time, Now #6

Ellis' bike was leaking on the burnout and he is unable to make a pass. Gladstone bounced a little off the starting line, drifted to the right, flirting with the center stripe all the way through the run.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 14.700/38.80, Now #6
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.110/187.21, Now #1

Phillips has problems early, smoke pouring from the exhaust about 150 feet out, and he pulls over to the left side of the track. Berry makes a clean pass to take the early pole.

Left Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.157/187.39, Now #4
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 7.084/188.49, Now #1

Savoie makes a clean, straight pass to take the pole for now.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 6.991/190.46, Now #1
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.040/191.54, Now #2

Gann goes right down the groove and makes the first six second pass of the event. Johnson is right behind and falls into the second spot for now.

Left Lane: John Hall Runs 7.012/192.44, Now #3
Right Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.981/191.21, Now #1

Ray goes right down the groove and takes the top spot for now. Hall makes a clean run to get in the third spot.

Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.998/190.38, Now #3
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 7.008/192.08, Now #4

Tonglet makes the third six second pass of the round and gets in the third spot for now.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.926/193.57, Now #1
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.115/190.46, Now #10

Arana makes a great pass and takes the top spot by a bunch...for now.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.996/191.02, Now #5
Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.955/191.81, Now #2



Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.895/195.42, Now #1
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.987/191.48, Now #5

Krawiec makes an impressive run, the first in the 6.8's and takes the pole to end the session. Hines makes a clean pass and will be in the fifth spot.
