Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #1

COMMERCE, Ga. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 32nd annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Rit Pustari Runs 5.100/143.03, Now #2
Right Lane: Bruce Litton Runs 4.134/240.81, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 86 degrees, relative humidity 52 percent, barometer 29.26 inches, adjusted altitude 3,341 feet, track temperature 119 degrees.

Pustari was out of power by half track. Litton clicked it off early. Bruce Litton's incremental times: 60ft-0.880 sec., 330ft-2.258, 660ft-3.227/264.49 mph.


Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 4.012/306.40, Now #1
Right Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 4.951/145.85, Now #3

Todd in his second event of the season with a good clean pass...J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.879 sec., 330ft-2.247, 660ft-3.213/262.95 mph. Dakin clicked off around half track.

Left Lane: Dom Lagana Runs 4.085/293.03, Now #2
Right Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 4.370/228.61, Now #4

Zizzo started to haze the tires just past half track and clicked it off. Lagana with a full pass to go for the number two spot for now. Dom Lagana's incremental times: 60ft-0.869 sec., 330ft-2.257, 660ft-3.254/252.66 mph.

Left Lane: Hillary Will Runs 3.926/304.60, Now #1
Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.965/299.40, Now #2

alBalooshi was on a good pass until around half track and then it dropped a cylinder. Then right before the finish line there was a lot of engine smoke. Will launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Hillary Will's incremental times: 60ft-0.877 sec., 330ft-2.194, 660ft-3.134/268.44 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 10.005/89.14, Now #10
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.881/317.05, Now #1

McMillen was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off. Bernstein with a real nice pass, straight dow the groove to go to number one spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.185, 660ft-3.116/276.58 mph.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.983/275.17, Now #4
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.988/301.27, Now #5

The both started to drop cylinders at the same time and both run 3.98s. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.208, 660ft-3.160/265.12 mph.
David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.206, 660ft-3.180/262.23 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.975/313.00, Now #4
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.017/290.63, Now #8

Vandergriff with a good pass, second fastest pass of the round. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.874 sec., 330ft-2.238, 660ft-3.193/267.43 mph. Kalitta started dropping cylinders early and then really mixing them up on the top end. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.858 sec., 330ft-2.217, 660ft-3.192/261.02 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.911/315.93, Now #2
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 6.668/98.26, Now #15

Langdon starts to smoke the tires early and clicks it off. Torrence with a real nice pass to go to the number two spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.195, 660ft-3.138/271.08 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.881/316.60, Now #2
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 4.860/148.44, Now #14

Lucas starts to haze the tires just before half track and clicks it off. Schumacher with great pass to tie Bernstein's E.T., but gives up the spot on speed. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.183, 660ft-3.114/274.22 mph.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.900/313.37, Now #4
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.885/317.34, Now #3

Brown with a real nice pass, the fastest pass of the session to go to the number three spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.198, 660ft-3.121/277.89 mph. Massey was right behind with Brown to go to the number four spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.185, 660ft-3.122/270.43 mph.
