CROFTON, Md. -- Less than three months since Raceway Promotions took over management of Capitol Raceway and vast improvements have already been made to the track's racing surface and grounds. Listening to racer feedback, track operators John Crane and B.J. Herrell called in top notch surface experts to get the track in tip top shape. Through the expertise of Bill Moore from the Penhall Company and the well-known ADRL 'Traction Twins,' Capitol Raceway's track surface has been given a makeover. Sections of the track have been ground and the entire surface has been analyzed and prepped for the quickest and fastest in drag racing. In the words of Raceway Promotions head, John Crane, "the old girl is dancing again." Track manager and starter, Rick Warner, also updated his knowledge of track prep, brushing up his skills in Virginia with the Traction Twins, and returning with a new bag of tricks to keep Capitol Raceway in top form. Racers now say the track is the best it's ever been and Rick believes the track will continue getting better each week. With the track ready to handle anything thrown at it, Raceway Promotions has lined up an incredible summer of racing. July 6-7 Top Sportsman outlaws will battle it out. In a unique North vs. South battle, the Southern Outlaw Top Sportsman Association will invade Capitol Raceway to see how they stack up against the gang from the north, the new Capitol Top Sportsman Association. The faceoff will stack the best 32 Top Sportsman entries on the grounds to find out if the South has what it takes to rise again, or if the Yankees will take home bragging rights. Entry for the North vs South T/S Outlaw event is just $75 with the winner taking home $3,000. Runner up receives $1,000. A semifinal finish pays $250, $100 for quarter finals and $50 for the fastest 32 entries who make the show. Crew and fan tickets are $20/day or $30 for the weekend. Gates open Friday at 5 pm for testing. Make all the runs you want for $25. The battle begins on Saturday. For parking call John at 410-365-9424. Also- local racers don't miss out on Capitol Raceway's Super Saturday bracket race. Payouts guaranteed in Super Pro, Modified, Street and Bike. Gates open at noon. This awesome North vs. South battle is just a hint of things to come for Capitol Raceway racers and fans. The following week Raceway Promotions invites Ultra Street competitors for their turn at the money. Then on July 20-21, it's an unheard of $10,500 to win for outlaw 10.5 racers. Finally, July will be capped off with an explosive Pro Mod War between Blowers and Nitrous. Stay tuned to www.CapitolRaceway.net for details about all the exciting events at the new Capitol Raceway.
