Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

SONOMA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 27th annual NHRA Sonoma Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 4.061/301.60, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.726/116.80, Was #15

Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 29.85 inches, adjusted altitude 2,129 feet, track temperature 119 degrees.

McMillen with his quickest pass of the weekend to move up to the number 13 spot. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.265, 660ft-3.252/258.76 mph.

Left Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 6.593/92.45, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.905/287.96, Was #12
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 14.515/33.36, Now #17; Best prior run: 16.496/20.83, Was #17

Salinas was up in smoke around 330-foot mark and clicks it off. Buff is up in smoke right at the hit and he will not qualify...

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.905/314.39, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.898/314.24, Was #11
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.293/200.32, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.435/95.45, Was #16

Torrence with his quickest pass today, but he will not improve on his qualifying E.T. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.194, 660ft-3.133/272.45 mph. Millican was on a good pass until he started to lose traction and clicked it off. He will get off the bump spot.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 4.401/183.77, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.890/313.37, Was #10
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.913/302.48, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.504/177.51, Was #16

Langdon is running a new car this weekend...He was on a good pass until around half track when it started to haze the tires and clicked it off. Massey with his quickest pass of the weekend to move up to the number 13 spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.176, 660ft-3.116/268.17 mph.

Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 4.344/198.41, Now #9; No Prior Run

Torrence with a nice pass until it started to haze the tires on the top end and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 6.279/96.07, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.828/316.52, Was #7
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.818/310.20, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.836/316.82, Was #8

alBalooshi starts to lose traction around 400 feet and clicks it off. Todd launched hard and was straight down the groove to move up the ladder one spot. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.143, 660ft-3.049/280.66 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 5.493/120.88, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.806/319.60, Was #6
Right Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 4.043/239.74, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.799/324.05, Was #5

Vandergriff was up in smoke around 300 feet and clicked it off. Crampton started to haze the tires around 660-feet and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.887/318.62, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.791/324.20, Was #2
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.858/315.56, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.796/319.60, Was #4

This was a great side-by-side drag race with the second and third quickest passes of the round. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.192, 660ft-3.124/275.51 mph.
Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.177, 660ft-3.093/277.09 mph.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 4.433/178.42, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.762/325.53, Was #1
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.876/318.47, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.793/323.43, Was #3

Force starts to haze the tires around half track and clicks it off. Force will hold on to the number one spot for the third time this season and all of them have been this season. Schumacher with another great looking pass...this is the second quickest pass of the round. Schumacher made four good passes this weekend and will start from thee number three spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.171, 660ft-3.110/271.90 mph.
