Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

BRAINERD, Minn. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 33rd annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Dave River Runs 6.830/202.76, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.793/203.77, Was #14

River was straight down the groove, but he will not improve... Dave River's incremental times: 60ft-1.040 sec., 330ft-2.875, 660ft-4.402/161.29 mph, 1,000ft-5.720.

Left Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 6.756/205.01, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.772/204.76, Was #13
Right Lane: Mark Hogan Runs 6.831/202.03, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.806/203.00, Was #15

Weather conditions: air temperature 87 degrees, relative humidity 57 percent, barometer 28.53 inches, adjusted altitude 4,391 feet.

Kramer with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he will stay in the number 13 spot. Deric Kramer's incremental times: 60ft-1.026 sec., 330ft-2.845, 660ft-4.356/162.53 mph, 1,000ft-5.658. No help here for Hogan and he will start Sunday from the number 15 spot.


Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.687/206.42, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.669/207.43, Was #11

McGaha will not improve and will stay in the number 11 spot.

Left Lane: Jonathan Gray Runs 6.675/206.51, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.666/207.75, Was #9
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.708/207.27, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.669/207.98, Was #10

These two with a couple good passes for this round...Gray with the quickest of the round and Gaines with the third quickest of the session. Jonathan Gray's incremental times: 60ft-1.003 sec., 330ft-2.794, 660ft-4.291/164.63 mph, 1,000ft-5.584.
V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-1.035 sec., 330ft-2.837, 660ft-4.334/164.75 mph, 1,000ft-5.622.

Left Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.657/206.67, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.654/206.73, Was #8
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.658/207.11, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.645/207.82, Was #7

These two are side-by-sie all the way down the track with the two quickest passes of the round. Neither driver will improve on their qualifying times. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.783, 660ft-4.278/164.93 mph, 1,000ft-5.569.
Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-1.003 sec., 330ft-2.790, 660ft-4.283/165.19 mph, 1,000ft-5.571.

Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.648/206.95, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.643/207.37, Was #6
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.681/206.23, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.636/207.91, Was #5

Connolly launched hard and keep it hooked up to make the quickest pass of the round...around half track there was a lot of sparks coming out from the underneath the car. Dave Connolly's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.781, 660ft-4.274/165.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.562. Coughlin with a clean pass, but will start Sunday from the number five spot. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.797, 660ft-4.298/164.15 mph, 1,000ft-5.591.

Left Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.667/206.80, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.630/207.69, Was #3
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.657/207.53, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.632/208.39, Was #4

Anderson tied his teammate Nobile for the second quickest pass of the round and he will get the position based on his faster speed. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-1.005 sec., 330ft-2.793, 660ft-4.286/165.29 mph, 1,000ft-5.573. Enders-Stevens with a good pass, and will start from the number three spot. Erica Enders-Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-1.002 sec., 330ft-2.794, 660ft-4.290/164.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.580.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.622/208.30, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.622/208.49, Was #2
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.638/207.18, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.614/207.98, Was #1

Line with another great looking pass, the quickest of the round. He will not improve and will start Sunday from the number two spot. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.256/165.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.540. Johnson had a spark plug problem earlier today, that is why he shut it off. Johnson with his second quickest pass of the weekend and will hold on to the number one spot. This is the second quickest pass of the round. Johnson is the number one qualifier for the fifth time this season and the 36th time in his career.
