Rain Interrupts Final Qualifying Session
By Larry Sullivan

BRAINERD, Minn. - 5:20 p.m. Despite a promising weather radar picture, instead of blowing through, sprinkles that interrupted the final Funny Car qualifying session got hard enough that most of the spectators left the stands and the race director told the Funny Cars still in the lanes to go back to the pits to wait it out.

The track is now wet enough that it will require some work by the Safety Safari to get it ready once the rain stops.

The promising weather radar picture still shows very little rain, scattered showers that should move on rather quickly, but that was what it looked like before the sprinkles got heavier, so it's a guessing game.

We'll let you know when the cars are called back to the lanes.
